One monkey found, no hope for babies

One of two tamarin monkeys stolen from Alma Park Zoo in Queensland has been handed in to a Sydney Wildlife Park, and will return home soon. However, no hope remains for its babies.

While the female has been returned alive, the male has already been found dead, confirming that the babies born to the female while stolen are almost certainly dead. Male tamarin monkeys are the primary caregivers, and there's little chance the babies survived.

The female, Conchetta, was handed in to a Sydney wildlife park, who also has had several tamarins stolen. She will rest up for a week before being flown home, as it's a highly stressful journey for the small primates.
